The Special Needs Planning Center was formed specifically to work with families who have children with special needs. The firm was created out of the need for a comprehensive planning service which would assist families in coordinating their legal and financial planning with the intent of preserving government benefits such as Social Security.
Every family with a child with special needs faces unique challenges in caring for their loved ones. One of the largest hurdles is developing a financial strategy that covers any immediate needs, as well as plans for needs farther in the future. We work with families to understand their specific challenges and develop a plan specifically for them.
We give you an advanced view of financial management, consult with you about a care routine for your child and help you prepare to maximize the time—and minimize the cost—associated with trust lawyers and other attorneys. In the end, all our families care about is that their son or daughter will be able to live the most fulfilling life possible once their parents are no longer able to continue care.

I live with my wife and six children on a farm in Lawson, MO. As your advisor, I can bring a unique and important perspective to this process. I too am the proud parent of not one but three children with special needs. That insight quickly evolved into a steadfast commitment to helping families who’ve been blessed to have a child with special needs. My personal experience of planning for all my children led me to discover the specialized knowledge required to plan for their unique legal and financial future. This discovery inspired me to co-found The Special Needs Planning Center.
I have been a financial advisor since 1991 and have earned the designation of Chartered Financial Consultant and Certified Financial Planner while working with families on their financial and estate needs. Together I have confidence that we can create a plan that’s suitable for you and your child. With degrees in both Finance and International Business, my career began in 1999 and soon after I found my calling in helping families who have children with special needs. This experience has led me to serve on many organizations right here in Kansas City. A few of them include Variety Children’s Charity of Kansas City, The Mid-America Games for the Disabled and the Northland Early Education Center.
Living in the area with my wife Martha and my three sons, Warner, Whitaker and Sawyer, has caused me to invest my time in the community. And as a Certified Financial Planner™, I have the insight and experience needed to help develop a plan that’s suitable for both you and your child’s needs.
